Tucked away behind some of the first homes built in Oneoneroa is the Northboro Reserve Playground. This outdoor space has everything you’d hope to find on a children’s playground, such as a slide, toddlers swing and a climbing net. Not to mention the playground is connected to a shoreline track that runs from Takapuna to Devonport, great for all kinds of fitness-related pursuits!

Commonly known as one of Auckland’s most diverse and lively markets, the Takapuna Sunday market attracts people from all over Tāmaki Makaurau. From fresh produce to delicious street eats the market is a well-loved local favourite. Don’t forget to check out the boutique retailers or the picturesque Takapuna beach which is only a short walk away from the market.

Location: 37 Killarney Street, Takapuna
If you enjoy both recreational or competitive swimming, the Takapuna Pool and Leisure Centre offers a range of water-based classes and amenities that are great for both adults and kids. If you’re looking for something a bit more relaxed there’s also a sauna and steam room. Children under 16 receive free entry to the pools while adults can supervise for $1. If water-based activities aren’t what you’re looking for then there’s also modern fitness centre with a range of free weights and machines for cardio and resistance training.

Looking for a quiet place to relax? Then look no further. With comfortable seating, a wide range of books to read, plenty of space and free WiFi, the Devonport Library is the perfect place to visit. They also host events, workshops and book clubs for those who want to be involved in the local community.
Location: 14 The Strand, Takapuna
Rated one of the top 10 playgrounds in Auckland, Takapuna Beach Reserve Playground is an absolute must for anyone with children who have energy to burn. With a 9-metre high tower, slides plus a 7-metre high climbing rope structure and wheelchair accessible spots, this playground is made for kids of all ages. There are also hammocks under the giant Pohutukawa trees for those who want to relax, and the beach is a mere hop and a skip away if you feel like a swim.
